Gorillas in the Mist

Despite the fact that the book was written 24 years ago and that the author has been dead for 22 years, Gorillas in the Mist by Dian Fossey has remained a timeless classic in the realm of non-fiction text and has enthralled generation after generation with her creative, insightful view into the world of the mountain gorilla.

Our closest relatives have never been quite to close to us as in today's world, and before this remarkable woman took her 13 year journey to help learn more about these creatures, they were as misunderstood and feared as dangerous, man-eating beasts. Dian Fossey opened up a world of similarities that tie us as humans back millions of years to when we too ran through the jungles. Without research like hers, we would never understand such concepts as the dire need for conservation, the concept of utmost determination for Dian Fossey.

She claimed they were "Her Gorillas" and was one of very few scientists who cared enough to name each and every subject. Her work has been appreciated countless times by hundreds of thousands of people, whether through her book, her biographies from other authors, or through the movie version of Gorillas in the Mist starring Sigourney Weaver as Dian herself. Gorillas in the Mist is not like any other scientific novel of it's time, combinind her day-to-day personal experience with amazing scientific facts in a gripping tale of coexistance.
